How Wise Casino Review collects, uses and protects personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Data controller
Wise Casino Review, 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, email editorial@wisecasinoreview.co.uk.
2. What we collect
- Information you send us. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, the topic you selected and your message.
- Consent preference. A single first-party cookie records whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies. It contains no identifier that can single you out.
- Technical log data. Our hosting provider records the IP address, browser type, referring page and timestamp of requests, for security and to keep the service running.
- Optional analytics. Only if you accept optional cookies do we record aggregated, non-identifying statistics such as which pages are read and on what type of device.
We do not collect special category data, we do not knowingly collect any data from anyone under 18, and we never ask for payment card details — there is nothing to buy here.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry — legitimate interests, and where relevant steps taken at your request.
- To keep the website secure and available — legitimate interests in preventing abuse and fraud.
- To measure how the website is used — your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- To meet legal obligations — where we must retain records or respond to a lawful request.
4. What we never do
We do not sell personal data. We do not share your contact details with casino operators or any other advertiser. We do not send marketing emails, and we do not build advertising profiles about individual readers.
5. Who processes data for us
We use a small number of service providers acting on our instructions: a website hosting provider, an email provider for the editorial inbox, and — only where you have consented — a privacy-focused analytics provider. Each is bound by contract to process data only as instructed and to keep it secure.
Where a provider processes data outside the UK, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations or by the International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
Contact form messages and email correspondence are kept for 24 months from the last exchange, then deleted. Server security logs are kept for up to 12 months. The consent cookie expires after six months. Aggregated analytics that cannot identify anyone may be kept indefinitely.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: be informed; access a copy of your data; have inaccurate data corrected; have data erased; restrict or object to processing; receive your data in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these, email editorial@wisecasinoreview.co.uk. We respond within one month. We may ask a question to confirm your identity before releasing data. Requests are free unless they are manifestly unfounded or excessive.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
9. Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection with a strict content security policy. Access to the editorial inbox is limited to the three members of the desk and protected by multi-factor authentication.
10. External links
When you follow a link to an operator or to an organisation such as GAMSTOP or BeGambleAware, you leave this website and their own privacy policy applies. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, how those organisations handle your data.
11. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for at least 30 days.
See also our Cookie Policy for the specific cookies used and how to withdraw consent, and our Terms of Service. This website is for adults aged 18 and over.
